Colin Park will speak on: Java Design Patterns A design pattern is a standardized formal description of an OO technique. Knowledge of basic patters helps in evaluating the feasibility of an OO design, reviewing an OO design, understanding other people's software, learning new patterns, and discussing work with colleagues. This talk covers the emergence of some basic patterns (Proxy, Adapter, Factory Method, Mememto, etc.), then some more sophisticated patterns (Active Value, Bridge, Decorator, Iterator, Flyweight, etc.), with back stories and examples from the Java environment. The goal of the presentation is to provide orientation.
