Lightweight Components

Lightweight components in Java became available with jdk1.1, and let you give UI components the same look and feel across all platforms. There are three important steps to lightweight development: 1) proper inheritance, 2) implementing the look-and-feel, and 3) implementing event-handling. We'll examine each step with code examples, and if time permits, look a little bi beyond this topic into the "pluggable look and feel" (plaf) of the recent jdk release.
